Trinity’s Triumph

The Matrix Resurrections (2021) triumphal arc

is truly the Pièce de résistance for the franchise.

Following the completion Trinity’s full-circle character development, she discovers she can fly in one of the most triumphantly poignant musical compositions I have ever seen/heard/felt in recent cinema. The scene is centered amidst a coral-golden-hued sky with Trinity holding Neo. This is HER TRIUMPH. And after her “dramatic” display moments earlier, the reclamation of her AGENCY, thus affirming that she, INDEED CANNOT BE CONTROLLED.  The music during Trinity's flight scene at the end of The Matrix Resurrections (2021) is from the original score composed by Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer. The climax features high-energy, orchestral electronic fusion, heavily represented by the track "Neo and Trinity Theme (Exomorph Remix)" and various intense scoring cues found on the official soundtrack album. 

It is such an amazing scene, but it’s also more than that. She arises from flames and awakens with breath, purpose, and awe. It marks the denouement (TheKNOWment) or the the moment were all things have become Complete. It’s victory in VITRIOL.

I cannot watch this scene without crying and it’s because the way this synchronizes with my personal life. Having a partner who is, let’s just say, more spiritually developed, and has answered their calling (decades) prior resonates with me deeply. Although Trinity was a force in her own right, she believed in Prophecy, the Oracle, and most of all in Neo. I find myself in the same pattern, and rejoice in her finding her own strength. The recoupment of her true name is symbolic of Trinity awakening to her own powers and the death of imposter syndrome. You can see the uncertainty in Neo’s face as he lets out, “I’m not doing this. Are you doing this?” as she rises, fully aware of herself and her abilities. They who know the fire that is within themselves shall ascend unto the eternal fire and dwell in it eternally.
